GIGI RAMOAN (Bombers' Founder!) STORY BEHIND NAME: My punk band occasionally covers the Ramones, I sing "53rd and 3rd." DISTINGUISHING FEATURE: Tall, Nose ring. SIGNATURE MOVE: Not really a move, but my stride. Not that it's good- but that it is identifiably "Gigi" LOVES: Doug-less & Moni, art, screen printing, rockin' and a rollin, derby, actually - the whole punk rock lifestyle. HATES: Not doing something.. . good thing it rarely happens ;-) FAVORITE SONG: Gosh, I can't choose just one. LITTLE-KNOWN FACT: I like to be funny. Sometimes I think I'm clever- but deep down I know- it's just sympathy laughter. WHY DERBY?: I wanted to get in shape and have fun. VIXEN DA CRUSHER (Bombers' Coach) STORY BEHIND NAME: Sounds like "fixing to crush her". Get it now? DISTINGUISHING FEATURE: My butt. Just ask anyone who knows me. SIGNATURE MOVE: Does getting injured count as a signature move? There is a reason I am retired. LOVES: Witty people, sushi, crime dramas, really great novels, super hot showers, LPs, Shakespeare, Mr. CrusHer and my L'il CrusHer. HATES: People who only point out problems but never offer solutions, inconsiderate drivers, okra, reality TV and being cold. FAVORITE SONG: I could never pick just one. I have hundreds of favorites! LITTLE-KNOWN FACT: My cat once got stuck to my face. It was very traumatic. For both of us. WHY DERBY?: My grandfather owned the first skating rink here in town. PROSEHACK (Referee) STORY BEHIND NAME: I'm 40mg ready to mellow out bad girls by giving them a vacation to the penalty box. But really, the name just made sense. My job requires me to hack prose constantly. DISTINGUISHING FEATURE: My kick-ass shoulder scar & white 265s. WHITE SKATE CLUB! (a nod to the Mason-Dixon Roller Vixens) SIGNATURE MOVE: Red 39! Major Elbow! LOVES: Coconut Smackaroon, #66oz, Bradenton Derby Brats HATES: Disingenuous, self-consumed, untruthful people FAVORITE SONG: "The Family Gun" by Young Fresh Fellows LITTLE-KNOWN FACT: I can tap dance, am an FCC licensed amateur radio operator, and I write professionally under a pen name. VIKI VAN GO (Referee) STORY BEHIND NAME: Well, I'm an artist, like Van Gogh, and I thought Viki was a sexy name! DISTINGUISHING FEATURE: Red glasses SIGNATURE MOVE: Double knee drop, sometimes done before a hit! Unfortunately the one time I did it wrong I hurt my knee! LOVES: My 2 beautiful boys! DEFAMATION OF SKATER (Referee) STORY BEHIND NAME: First Amendment Law was my favorite class in college. Defamation is the blanket law that covers libel and slander. HATES: Canned vegetables passed off as fresh, DUI checkpoints, stoopid people, racism, sexism, the police, car problems, bouncing checks, homophobia, copy machines that only take credit cards...the list goes on and on... FAVORITE SONG: "Fuck You Anyway" by the Beltones LITTLE-KNOWN FACT: I am a proud father of two! I write zines... ALLEY CAPONE STORY BEHIND NAME: I have a fascination with the Prohibition-era gangsters, and a morbid curiousity with the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, hence my number. DISTINGUISHING FEATURE: I love to wear fascinators and fedoras. SIGNATURE MOVE: The Knee Pads? LOVES: My family, who support me in derby. BLONDE FABULOUS STORY BEHIND NAME: I am a Social Media butterfly. I Twitter, Facebook, and I have had a blog for the last 5 years that is read all over North and South America, Europe, and several other countries. (I really want to know who the hell in Kuala Lumpur actually reads me!) so when I started doing derby, to keep from having confusion when I wrote about it I used the name I blog and tweet under. Also, it is misleading by sounding so prissy, but when I get hit, I get right back up and give back 10 fold! DISTINGUISHING FEATURE: My blonde hair and fabulous rack! SIGNATURE MOVE: The Bazinga Beyotch. I broke someones nose with it in '09 in Jacksonville!! LOVES: My hubby HHH & lovely children, writing, traveling, Yorkies, and just recently I took up running! HATES: Stupid drivers, people who treat service industry workers like dirt, & Celiac's Disease. FAVORITE SONG: Dr. Feelgood by Motley Crue & I Can't Drive 55 by Sammy Hagar. BUST'N LEAVE-HER STORY BEHIND NAME: I wanted something that was unique and inspired by Canada; and while I have never heard a Justin Bieber song I thought a play on his name was fitting. DISTINGUISHING FEATURE: My freckles. SIGNATURE MOVE: Probably something involving flailing elbows. LOVES: My cats, cheeseburgers, football, and beer. HATES: Wet socks. FAVORITE SONG: Anything, as long as it's not by Justin Bieber! LITTLE-KNOWN FACT: Despite my love of Tim Horton's and hockey I am actually not Canadian. Although I do consider Canada my second home. WHY DERBY?: I got into Derby because I wanted to make friends, feed my competitive nature, and get a really good workout. Derby does all that. I've met some amazing women, been able to compete with some really talented skaters, and experienced some of the craziest workouts of my life (all while wearing fishnets of course). CRASH TEST BARBIE STORY BEHIND NAME: Came up with it while we were driving on the interstate one day and saw a CrashTest Sticker on a car. Sounds like crash test dummy and Barbie has been a nickname. MAURA COWBELL STORY BEHIND NAME: Derby needed Maura Cowbell... :P That and my underpants are golden. DISTINGUISHING FEATURE: Tall and meaty SIGNATURE MOVE: Jazz Hands!!!!! LOVES: Making people laugh and smiling HATES: Haters... and Hypocrites... ... wait... FAVORITE SONG: Under Pressure LITTLE-KNOWN FACT: I am addicted to show tunes and have even written 2 symphonies. It's my job to strike - in and out of the courtroom DISTINGUISHING FEATURE: I think this is a trick question, designed to make me expose my insecurites! What can I say, I have derby hips. SIGNATURE MOVE: Still a work in progress. But you'll usually find me in the back of the pack, on top of the opposing jammer! LOVES: The silent attack, little known and little expected, but deadly. NIKITA DY-NO-MITE STORY BEHIND NAME: It was inspired from the Blaxploitation film era and Jimmy Walker from Good Times DISTINGUISHING FEATURE: My baby fro and Cabbage Patch doll face from what I hear SIGNATURE MOVE: Still under development LOVES: the creative arts, candy corn, my job, anime and horror movies HATES: Onions, slow drivers, micromanagers, mornings, anything mathematical FAVORITE SONG: It changes as I continually find other favorites but as of now it is "Hello" by Martin Solveig.
